Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge is one of my favorite places to shoot in all southern Illinois. I suppose proximity has something to do with that — it’s ten minutes from where I live. But it has a variety of wildlife and scenery.

Here’s a deer bounding away across that marshy place near the beaver dam.
